Scriptures On Forgiveness In The Bible

Scriptures on forgiveness in the Bible

The Bible is full of passages that speak to the importance of forgiveness. In this article, we will examine some of these verses and discuss how they can be applied in our daily lives.

Matthew 6:12-15

Forgiveness is the act of letting go of resentment, bitterness, and ill will. The Bible teaches that we must forgive others for their wrongdoings, as well as ourselves for our own wrongdoings.

Forgiving others is a choice—you can choose to hold onto your anger toward someone else (which causes you harm), or you can choose to be forgiving toward that person (which brings healing and freedom).

The way God forgives us is by paying the price for our sins on the cross with His life. He then offers us new life in Him because He loves us so much! We must accept this gift in order to have forgiveness in our lives.

By forgiving others and ourselves, we free ourselves up from being controlled by past hurts so we can truly live freely each day!

Mark 11:25

Forgiveness is the key to freedom, peace, happiness and life.

Mark 11:25 says: “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him and let him go.”

Luke 6:37

Luke 6:37 says, “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven.”

Acts 7:59-60

In this passage, Stephen is addressing his fellow Jews and reminding them of the history of their people. He reminds them that God could have punished them for their sin, but instead chose to forgive them through his Son Jesus Christ.

What’s interesting about this passage is that it shows us that forgiveness can be granted whether or not we ask for it. God’s love and mercy are so great that he doesn’t wait for us to come to him before granting forgiveness; he does so even when we don’t deserve it or believe in him!

There is enormous value in forgiveness

Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself, your spouse, your family members and friends. It’s a gift you give the world. To quote Mahatma Gandhi, “Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.”

So what do scriptures say about forgiveness?

I hope that you found this article helpful and enjoyable. Forgiveness is a powerful tool for overcoming our mistakes and being happier in life. If we can learn to forgive others, it will help us develop a stronger connection with God as well!
