Verse In The Bible About Husband And Wife
Marriage is for life, and it’s not always easy. That’s why God gave us his Word to guide us through the good times and bad. This verse from Psalm 127 is a great reminder that marriage should be a blessing from God, not something we enter into lightly.
“24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.”
God created Adam first, then Eve. The Bible says they were both naked and not ashamed of it because they had no sin yet (Genesis 2:25). God made them in his image and gave them marriage as their union together as one flesh (Genesis 1:27; 2:18-25). Marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and his wife who are bound together in sexual intimacy for life (Genesis 1:28; Matthew 19:6; Ephesians 5:31-32).
Husbands and wives should submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Wives, submit to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
1 Corinthians 7:3-5
3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. Similarly, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. 5 Do not deprive one another except perhaps by mutual consent for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
God made man and woman in his image.
Then he gave them dominion over the earth, and everything in it. He gave them the fruit of all trees, every green plant for food, and every tree with seeds inside it so they could plant more fruit trees on earth.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all these things you also must still have affection for one another. You must not be bitter toward one another; you must not get tired of each other.”
The Proverbs 31 woman is a hardworking and strong wife. She is wise, virtuous, and of good character. Her husband finds great joy in her, because she is of noble birth.
The Bible is full of verses about husbands and wives. The following verse from Colossians 3:18-19 states:
Husbands, love your wives and be not bitter against them.
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.
Husband and wife should submit to God and one another.
Husbands and wives should submit to one another, because they are members of the same body. The man who loves his wife, loves himself. No one ever hates his own body, but he feeds it and takes care of it, just as Christ does the church—for we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This mystery is great; but I am talking about Christ and about the church.
