Number 7 In The Bible

The number 7 represents perfection, completeness, and completion. It is used extensively in the Bible to symbolize God’s creation of the world in seven days.

The construction of the tabernacle and its furnishings under Moses’ leadership had a total of forty-nine items, each made with specific materials and measurements so that it would be perfect (Numbers 4:5; Exodus 25:10). The Ark of the Covenant contained forty-two precious stones set in gold on a lid made of eleven layers for a total of forty-three objects (Exodus 25:10–22). This was also seen by many as an allusion to Noah’s flood which killed every living thing except those saved by Noah’s Ark (Genesis 6–8). Therefore if we view these two numbers together as representing one group or people who were saved from destruction then it shows how close they came to complete destruction but were ultimately saved through God’s grace — hence why this is often referred to as “the church.” In other words we see here how any one individual or group can be said not only represent themselves but also represent others via their actions or faithfulness/unfaithfulness in doing so – thus making up an entire body/community known collectively today as Christianity itself!
