Bible Verses About Putting Others Before Yourself

Bible Verses About Putting Others Before Yourself

Put others before yourself. It’s a phrase that has been repeated so much it’s almost cliché. And yet, this seemingly simple request is one Christians struggle with daily. Put another way: love your neighbor as yourself. The Bible is full of verses about putting others before yourselves and loving those around you in practical ways. Below are seven Bible verses that remind us all how important it is for Christians to put others first—even when we feel like we need something or someone more than they do.

Philippians 2:3-4

When it comes to the question of what kind of example you should set, Philippians 2:3-4 offers some great advice. “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

This passage shows that we should put other people before ourselves in all aspects of life—to make sure they are happy and content before thinking about ourselves. This idea is echoed throughout Scripture: “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18); “Love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor” (Romans 12:10); and “Put on love which binds everything together in perfect harmony” (Colossians 3:14).

1 Corinthians 10:24

[1 Corinthians 10:24] And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

(KJV)

Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

Romans 12:10

Romans 12:10 says, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

This verse is telling us that we should put others before ourselves. As Christians, this means that as much as we can, we should be willing to sacrifice our own time, energy and resources for the benefit of others. This means doing things like volunteering at your local church or helping out a friend who has recently lost his job by taking him out to lunch.

Matthew 5:42

Jesus said: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Why? Because we are all neighbors, and if we do not recognize this truth, then how can we expect to love our neighbor? When you put yourself first, it becomes nearly impossible to see the needs of others around you. But when you give up your own comfort and think about others first, love flows more freely through the people around you in unexpected ways.

The Bible is full of verses about serving others—even those who may hate or persecute you at times. It’s important for Christians to remember that God wants us to serve each other because this is what brings Him glory (1 Corinthians 10:31). In fact, Jesus Himself said: “For whoever would save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it” (Matthew 16:25).

Luke 6:38

“You must love your neighbor more than you love yourself.” – Luke 6:31-38

If you want to be a good person, you should put others before yourself. Jesus taught about this in his Sermon on the Mount, where he said: “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you… Give to everyone who asks of you; and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.”

Galatians 5:13, 14

Galatians 5:13, 14 says, “You were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh but through love serve one another. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”

This is a powerful message because it shows how to put others before yourself and why doing so is important. When you choose to put others first, you’re showing them respect and demonstrating that their needs matter more than your own wants or desires at any given time. Naturally, this will lead them to feel valued by you and increase their trust in you as well—which can be crucial when working with clients or employees on projects where there may be disagreements down the road about certain aspects of work (such as deadlines).

In addition to helping create healthy relationships with others around us, putting them first also has an impact on our own self-esteem—something all too often overlooked when considering how important it is for us all! If we don’t practice putting ourselves last sometimes (and instead focus solely on our own needs), then we run into problems down the road where our confidence starts failing us due

Proverbs 3:27

Proverbs 3:27

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And with all thy getting, get understanding.

John 13:34

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:34

In this verse, Jesus talks about how he has shown us the importance of loving others by dying on the cross for our sins. In order to show others how much we love them, we should be willing to sacrifice ourselves for them as well. This is one way we can put others before ourselves in order to glorify God.

Hebrews 13:16

God wants you to put others before yourself. It is a good thing, and it makes you happy when you do it. The Bible says that “we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” (1 John 3:16) and “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). You are not doing this for yourself; rather, you are doing this for God!

Romans 15 : 1, 2, 7

Romans 15:1, 2, 7

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without knowing it.

Remember those who are in prison as if you were in prison with them.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Christians should put others before themselves.

Christians should put others before themselves. Christians should be humble, kind, generous, patient and forgiving. Christians should love their neighbors as themselves and be kind to strangers.

Putting others before yourself is one of the most important things a Christian can do. It’s easy to get caught up in our own lives, but when you remember that God has called us to love others—even those who may not deserve it—you realize that this is what makes our faith so powerful. By putting others first, we can be an example of Jesus Christ’s love and show how much He cares about all people
