Verses In The Bible About Giving To Others

When it comes to giving, there are a lot of things that you can do. In fact, there are many people who will donate their time, money and other resources for the sake of helping others. Giving is something that should be done in order to help other people out and make them feel better about themselves. The Bible has several verses that say that it is good to give but these six verses really stand out when it comes to showing how good it feels when you give back to others:

Ephesians 4:28 (NASB)

  • Give to others as you would want to receive. This is the Golden Rule, and it is meant to be taken very seriously. We have all been on both sides of this equation; we’ve been treated well and poorly by others, and so we should be sure that our treatment of others reflects our desire for them to treat us likewise. It’s also important not only because it demonstrates your love for others but because it shows them how you want them to act towards you (and everyone around them).
  • Give cheerfully, not reluctantly or under compulsion. According to Jesus, when giving alms “do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing” (Matthew 6:3). The point here isn’t just that we shouldn’t try too hard; rather, it’s about being happy about giving even when there are no immediate benefits in sight—that way we can truly give with a cheerful heart!

1 Timothy 6:18-19 (NIV)

1 Timothy 6:18-19 says:

“Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”

I hope these verses have inspired you to give more generously than ever before!

Luke 6:38 (NIV)

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Proverbs 22:9 (NIV)

9 The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

10 The Lord’s eyes are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.

11 They will not be put to shame when they seek him; they will have no reason to blush when they are among their foes. 12 When they pass through the valley of weeping, it will become a place for springs of water.

Deuteronomy 15:10 (ESV)

Deuteronomy 15:10 (ESV): “Give freely to him who is in need and do not let your heart begrudge what you give to him, for with the Lord your God there is no such thing as an unrighteous or ungrateful deed.”

This verse tells us that we should give to others without any expectation of receiving anything in return. It also says that God does not expect us to do this out of a sense of duty, but rather because it comes naturally from within us.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 EVS)

“And this is the way that God’s grace is to be given away: it must be given generously. The more you give, the more you will receive; and the more you give, the greater will be your reward.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 EVS)

This text implies that if we give generously and bountifully, God will see fit to bless us with even greater generosity on our part. When we are able to give abundantly now because someone else gave when they had nothing left (2 Cor 8:1), then we have a responsibility before God and His community to do so as well.

Matthew 5:42 (NRSV)

Giving is a way to show love, thankfulness, appreciation, gratitude and honor. God wants us to be kind to others so that they know that we are thankful for what he has done for us. Giving shows our respect for God and his creation. When you give to others you allow them the opportunity to receive from God as well by providing for those in need and showing love towards them through material goods or money.

2 Corinthians 8-9(MSG)

2 Corinthians 8-9 (MSG)

So let’s do this—start thinking of ways to help others. Think about how we can use our resources and time, not for ourselves alone but for the common good. Be creative in your giving; think outside the box. If you have money, give it away. If you don’t have much money and what little savings you have is needed for living expenses, don’t worry about it—just use what God has given as generously as possible. Whatever way we act toward one another must be done in a manner that reflects who Christ is and what he did on our behalf: “I’ll never leave you; I’ll never abandon you.”

It is best to give as a cheerful giver.

As a Christian, it is best to give as a cheerful giver. Give cheerfully, not grudgingly or under compulsion. Do not give out of duty and obligation, but rather because you want to be generous and help those in need.

Giving is a great way to practice humility, generosity, and gratitude. It is also a way to show God’s love for others and how much you care about them. Giving has many benefits as well such as helping others while strengthening your own relationship with God because it is one of his commandments.
